The Power of Unity: Keeping Our Eyes on the November Prize

Jay

Hello, and welcome. If you haven’t met me or are new to this community, my name is Jay. I’m an independent activist out of Manhattan, a professional videographer, the columnist behind this growing platform, a surface pattern designer, and a classically trained pianist teaching piano right here in the city. I want to take a moment to celebrate a recent victory with all of you: our latest video deep-dive has officially gone mini-viral, climbing from 7,000 to nearly 9,000 views in just a few days. As a videographer, my goal is always to take the most pressing, sometimes appalling, events happening around our country and elevate them so the public can identify and understand the truth. Your engagement is making that happen.

The holidays are behind us, the new year is moving fast, and as we navigate this Valentine’s February, we have hit the ground running. We are everyday folks—families, workers, and educators. It is incumbent upon us to adhere to our shared values and spread a message of true patriotism. True patriotism is the love of democracy and freedom, not the embrace of an oligarchy. That is why we must use clear language: what we are witnessing is not a presidential administration, but a brutal regime. An administration administers; a regime destroys. This current leadership is unprecedented in its assault on our norms and unpresidential in every sense of the word.

I established our core activist groups in December 2024 to cultivate a cohesive, like-minded unit. My message to you then, as it is now, is that we must keep our eye on the prize: the November midterm elections. While presidential elections happen every four years, the midterms dictate the control of the House of Representatives and the Senate. We are waiting for Hakeem Jeffries to take the position of Speaker of the House this November. Once that happens, we will have the numbers needed to write the articles of impeachment—the vital first step to removing a president who continues to break new, dangerous ground.

I started America The Beautiful in 2016 because I was appalled by the atrocities I saw. As a Mexican man born on this continent, raised and educated here, who knows his history, I could not stay silent. I saw too many of my Latino brothers and sisters hauled away in cuffs, victims of brutal treatment within the confines of ICE facilities. Now, with a year of this 2026 reality behind us, we are seeing a repeat—and an escalation—of those 2016 horrors. There is a rapid destruction of our institutions, which is why the peaceful protests and marches that have filled American streets since 2020 remain so vital.

My purpose here is to be a voice for the voiceless and a resource for Spanish speakers and all everyday people who may not know the law. It is crucial to teach our community their rights: even as a non-citizen, a person has the right to an attorney and to be judged by a jury of their peers.

I invite you to stay vigilant and informed. Continue to spread love, unity, and awareness. I also want to share a piece of my own joy with you all: I am now officially integrating my passion for sacred geometry and surface pattern design into this space, and my artwork is available for you to check out and support.

Whatever your level of ability, we meet everyone where they are. Get involved. Call your elected officials, join a picket line, or take up online activism and write a blog like I do. Let’s keep growing this community and fighting for the beautiful America we know is possible.
